Scary Thieves - Halloween Released on CD

The lost gem from the early 80’s, a glittering synth’ rock nugget restored from the original EMI Records master tapes; 16 tracks, full 70 mins of music; incl’ the ’lost’ album, ALL the singles, AND remixes. Heavyweights of the era. Limited Edition CD only

The Scary Thieves name is synonymous with ’synthesiser legend’, one of the most pioneering albums of the early eighties; CP, Youdell, and the boys struggled with cutting edge PP2 Wave, brand new Simmons technology, and a host of other ’analogue’ nightmares. They, with the assistance of Japan producer Steve Nye crafted this little pop masterpiece, which, apart from a number of ‘bootlegs’ over the years, remained un-released, until Furry Records took the bull-by-the-horns, dusted down the original EMI/Parlophone masters and put out this little baby of a CD. 16 tracks; un-released album, singles, re-mixes, in one hot Eco-package.

Quick show review from Wed, June 11 – Hamden CT @ The Outer Space

Ringo Deathstar - with the distortion and reverb it was so loud, you could not hear anything.

Peter was fantastic, it was the wrong venue, the sound was awful, but at least they finally realized they did not need to turn it up all the way, Peter keep signaling to turn it down. Wish more if his older songs were played. Although he did add "She's in Parties" to our line up. New album was not at the show for sale, just a t-shirt, seems they were promoting more the $100 meet and greet.

Hang Up • Low Room • Low Tar Stars
Memory Go  • Peace to Each  • Deep Ocean Vast Sea
Gaslit  • Eliza  • Holy Clown  • A Strange Kind of Love
Silent Hedges  • She's In Parties  • Velocity Bird

NeuroRythm - Dissent

So if you like raw old school stuff you will enjoy NeuroRythm!

NeuroRythm is an EBM / Industrial band created by Andreas Gregor and his wife Laurie. The idea of the band actually stemmed from an elaborate April Fools prank they played on one of the weekly radio shows they hosted. They created a fictitious band with a long and colorful history. Andreas and Laurie also created the music for this faux band which culminating into a killer cover of Kiss' s "I Was Made for Loving You", Trent Reznor style. After the show aired, they received numerous email requests from listeners asking where they could purchase the music by this band and thus, the seeds for NeuroRythm was born.
At that particular time, Andreas had been away from the music scene for a couple years and the enormous success of that show made him realize his love of making music was stronger than ever. Andreas had always been involved in the electro / EBM scene starting from his teenage years in bands . In 2012, Andreas went back in the studio writing and recording with the assistance of Laurie on vocals and/or keyboards. His passion is creating electro / EBM music with an old school edge.
Andreas has been involved in the electro / EBM scene starting from his teenage years.
His past projects include: Techniques Berlin, Digital Poodle and !Bang Elektronika.

A full length album was released in late 2012 and you can purchase
from iTunes, or my favorite CD Baby!

Thomas Dolby “Time Capsule Tour”

The tour fuses the future and the past with electro-pop present. Thomas Dolby is on the verge of a resurgence. Think steampunk, “Waterworld,” H.G. Wells and Jules Verne.

Dolby recently released his first new album in more than 20 years, “A Map of the Floating City” be sure to take a listen, once you hear "Spice Train" and "Evil Twin Brother" you will be clicking that purchase button.

I caught the show at a small venue in Ridgefield CT, a yuppy town with lots of money.

Dolby was spot on brilliant, a pure electronic genius,
fantastic story teller, funny and timeless.

While I think the audience was like a limp noodle, towards the end Dolby said "come on, get on your feet". If this show had been at the FTC in Fairfield, CT (closer to NY and New Haven), it would have been a sold out show, two nights, with people on their feet dancing from the start.

It wouldn't be Dolby without a catchy theme to the tour...and this one wins the prize!

"The Time Capsule"

“The Time Capsule is a chrome- and brass- plated road trailer that seats three. With handcrafted leather and wood fittings, and complex electrical wiring that could have been designed by Nikola Tesla, it resembles a Jules Verne & HG Wells-inspired time-travel machine. Inside is a high-tech video recording suite that allows a music fan or guest artist to upload a personal video message to the Future.”

Yes, I did crawl into (and crawled back out) of the tiny capsule and left a message to the future, in true DJ Wave stye my message was to remember the best genre of music, the 80's, and especially Thomas Dolby!

Do not miss this show if you are near one of the tour stops in April and May.

Having been a long time fan starting with The Fallout Club, then hitting it big during the 80's with "She Blinded Me With Science" & "Hyperactive" that is where most people only know those two songs. Any real 80's music collector knows "The Flat Earth", "Field Work", "I Love You Goodbye", "Airwaves", "Windpower", "One of Our Submarines" and many more.

The show sparked me to research Dolby's other collaborations and connections, then the lightbulb went off...It's time for another...

Relative Connection: Thomas Dolby!

I will be seeking Dolby's permission, so it may be a few months before it is complete.
Stay Tuned.

Here are photos from the show. Dolby will be artist of the month in the video area. Enjoy!

Commercial Breakup, One of Our Submarines, The Flat Earth, Evil Twin Brother,  Love is a Loaded Pistol, My Brain Is Like a Sieve, Road to Reno, The Toad Lickers, I Love You Goodbye, Field Work, Europa and the Pirate Twins, Airhead, Hyperactive, She Blinded Me With Science
Spice Train & Silk Pyjamas
